Mandalay

Day 01 Arrive Mandalay (2 Nights), Ava, Sagaing & Amarapura

After Breakfast at Hotel, transfer to airport and flight to Mandalay. Then start sightseeing to Excursion to Inwa (Ava) and visit by horse cart to old wooden carvings at Bagaya Monastery that is a fine example of Myanmar masonry art and architecture, Maha Aung Mye Bonzan brick monastery, built by Queen Me Nu. Then drive to Sagaing, it is only 13 miles south-west of Mandalay. Here you will explore a variety of important site including Sagaing Hill, Soon U Ponnya Shin, there are superb views of the whole area from there with the majestic Ayeyawaddy River, Sagaing Town and Innwa across the waters, right up to the Shan hills and its surroundings. After that return toward the city and stop at Amarapura a former capital whose name means ‘ City of Immortality’. Visit to Maha Ganayon Monastary, this sprawling monastery is a pleasantly meditative place for most of the day, silk and cotton weaving factory then the tour carry on to U- Bein Bridge for a walk along this 200 year-old teak bridge and also the famous footbridge in Myanmar. After sunset, coming back to Mandalay. Overnight at hotel in Mandalay.

Day 02 River Cruise Mingun and visit Mandalay

Morning breakfast at hotel, an excursion by boat on the western bank of Ayeyarwaddy river will take you to Mingun (~01 hour). Tour highlights include: Mingun bell (90tons), one of the world’s largest hanging bells, Mingun Village, Hshinbyume Pagoda- built in 1816 and Mya Theindan Pagoda (1817) has unique architecture style which symbolized the Seven Seas of Buddhist cosmology. Then return to Mandalay and visit to Mahamuni Buddha image casted in Buddha time (Bc623). Later visit to puppet wood carving, tapestry and gold-leave making center. In the afternoon proceed to Mandalay Royal Palace built in 1857 by King Mindon ( the second last king of Yadanabon Kingdom). Then visit to Golden palace monastery covered by gold leave and wood carving. And go to Kuthodaw pagoda ( the world biggest book) acknowledged by UNESCO, next visit to Shwe kyaung a monastery once King Mindon’s royal palace apartment for meditation, incomparable Atumashi monastery then proceed to Mandalay Hill for sunset viewing. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 03 Departure

After breakfast, transfer to airport for Departure or extend your stay in Myanmar.

 

OPTION :

This trip is mainly to see natural beauties and feel adventure by taking the train to Gokteik bridge. Pyin Oo Lwin was a British summer hill station during the British time. It is over 1070m above see level and the weather is fine and pleasant even in summer. There are many colonial buildings in the town and Botanical garden was built since 1924. Now the name of that garden is called National Kandawgyi Garden. Central market from the town is very colorful and interesting to visit. There is also beautiful waterfall, Pwe Kauk just outside the town. Military training schools, Defence Service Academy can be seen in that town.
From Pyin Oo Lwin , you can go to see Gokteik viaduct by taking the train for about four hours. Wonderful landscapes can be seen through the train window and the views over the Gokteik bridge are amazing. The train stop several station and you can see the ways of life of the local people along the train trip.

 

Day 03 Pyin Oo Lwin

After breakfast, drive to Pyin Oo Lwin from Mandalay it will take about one and half hour. First visit into the town’s major colonial attractions with the help of horse-dawn carriage, the central local market for its attractive seasonal fruits and flowers. After lunch visit to Kandawgyi National Garden ( May Myo Botanical Garden), Pwe Kauk waterfall and Maha Ant Htoo Kann Tha : it enshrines an enormous 17-ton white marble Buddha statue. Overnight at Hotel in Pyin oo Lwin.

Day 04 Pyin oo Lwin Gok Hteil viaduct

Morning, transfer to train station. Taking the train to Naung Pain village (04 hours) passing over the famous Gok Hteik viaduct, about 34 miles northeast of Pyin Oo Lwin by contractors from the Pennsylvania steel Company it bridges the Gok Hteik Gorge. It was the second highest railway bridge in the world when it was constructed, and remains Myanmar’s longest. Getting off from the train in Naung Pain station and drive back to Mandalay. On the way back, view seeing some village, flower market and will arrive to Mandalay at about sunset time. Overnight at Hotel in Mandalay.
