This city is located in the center of Myanmar and also the second largest city in Myanmar. The main living of the people is trading. Other attractions of the city include Kuthodaw Pagoda with Buddhist scriptures curved on 729 marble tablets known as the biggest book in the world and Mandalay Hill towering the whole city and nearby areas. There are so many historical interesting places in and around Mandalay. Amarapura as an ancient capital in 1782. King Bodawphaya built it as a capital and He moved his palace from InnWa to Amarapura.
and Sagaing were built as an ancient city since fourteen century and 20km far in the southwest of Mandalay. You can visit to those three ancient cities within one day from Mandalay. U Pein wooden bridge is one of the highlight of Amarapura. Silk and cotton weaving are main living of that town. Bagaya wooden monastery is over one hundred years old and situated in Inwa.
Sagaing was also ancient city in 1315 AD. It is main religious center and you can see panoramic views of the river from the top of Sagaing hill. Kaung Hmu Daw phaya, Ponnya Shin Phaya and Umin Thone Ze pagoda are main highlight of Sagaing. So it will be worth to visit for foreign visitor.
