YANGON – GOLDEN ROCK – HPA-AN – MAWLAMYINE – KYAIK KHAMI (Amherest) –YANGON (07 Days/ 06 Nights)

Day 01 Arrival Yangon

 On arrival at Yangon International Airport, you are met and transferred to your Hotel. After checking into your hotel, begin your day with the walking tour around the heart of Yangon where one can see mainly British style colonial buildings (City Hall, Sule pagoda which is believed to have been built about 2,200 years ago and the landmark of Yangon City Centre). Proceed down the Strand road to wander around The STRAND HOTEL, over hundred years old hotel and next visit to the ChaukHtatGyi reclining Buddha(72 meters long, one of four longest reclining Buddha in Myanmar). Finally, enjoy the amazing sunset over the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda which is believed to have been built about 2,500 years ago and the greatest pagoda of its kind in the world. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2  Drive to Golden Rock (Mt.Kyaiktiyo) (160km, 05:30/06:00 hours)

Morning, breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Golden Rock (Kyaikhtiyo) which is situated within 04 hours and half distance from Yangon by car in Mon state in Myanmar. It lies 3600 feet above sea level on Paunglaung Hill and it was built on a rock. On the way, enjoy the natural beauty and Mon villages. Upon arrival at the base camp, take the open truck in one hour ride to Yatetaung Camp. From there, we’ve to walk about 45 minutes to the top of the pagoda, unforgiving uphill, sweaty schlep to the top. Visit around and enjoy the sunset from this unforgettable site. Overnight in Kyaikhtiyo.

Day 03 Golden Rock –  Hpa-An

Morning breakfast at the hotel then come down to the base camp to proceed to Hpa-An an (288km, ~7hr), the capital of Kayin State. The road abounds with rich local life and scenic landscape. On the way adorned with the scenic view of numerous small rocky karsts (limestone cliff and soaring peaks) among the rice-fields, visit Kawgun Cave which enclosed over thousands of Buddha statues made of terracotta stuck on the interior wall and some images in brick inside, visit Sadan Cave (there had rock, slop rock fountains). Then, visit is made in this small town and continues to KyaukKaLatt which is a small rock hill formed look like a wine glass. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, visit to Lumbini Park which contains the 1020 Buddha Status under Banyan and Sal trees at the base of the sacred mountain Zwekabin (~700m), and some Karen villages. Sunset at Shwenyinmyew Pagoda situated at the bank of Than Lwin River. Overnight at hotel in Hpa An.

Day 04 Hpa Ann –Mawlamyine

After the breakfast, visit Hpa-An Market. Then continue to Mawlamyine ,visit Win Sein Tawya, the world’s largest reclining Buddha (~200 m) and its overview scenery and visit to hand weaving workshops. In the afternoon, you’ll be check-in at hotel in Mawlamyine. After lunch, we will also pay a visit to Taung Waing Pagoda where all can see Buddha image and 500 holy monks’ followers’ statues exit and finally the sunset at the Kipling’s pagoda on top of the hill. Overnight at hotel in Mawlamyine.

Day 05 Mawlamyine – Kyaik-Khami (Amherst)

In the morning, visit to the Mawlamyine Market to observe the main market. There are two markets, close to each other, and walk in the downtown to have a sight of colonial buildings. Next visit to the Pa-Auk monastery in the dense rubber forest have a deep look in a monk’s life and the library of Buddhism. After that continue to Myaing Gone village to see the biggest reclining Buddha in the world, first. Then proceed to the war cemetery the tombs of the allied soldiers which contains (3771) graves who died building the Burma –Siam railway called the death railway. You keep going to the end of the land at Amherst with the famous Kyaik-Khami (Yay-Lal) pagoda. Return to Mawlamyine and overnight at hotel in Mawlamyine.

Mawlamyine – Balu-Kyun Island – Mawlamyine (By boat)

Balu-Kyun (The Ogre Island), Cross of the mighty Thanlwin River to reach Balu-Kyun (the Ogre Island) by boat in the morning. The sightseeing is with horse carts and stops at workshop of slates, rubber bands, Walking Stick and Pipe making for smoking tobacco. Taking packed lunch or lunch boxes are suggested. Then back to Mawlamyine by boat. Evening sunset at Thanlwin River bank.Dinner at local restaurant.Overnight in Mawlamyine.

Day 06 Drive back to Yangon

Say goodbye to the Mawlamyine, stroll around the downtown before leaving back to Yangon (330km/~7hr) by private car. Arrive to Yangon in the afternoon for your onward travel arrangements.

Day 07 Departure

In the morning, transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure or extend your stay in Myanmar.
